Formation badge of XXI Indian Corps, 1943 (c). In the British and India armies a corps was a battlefield formation composed of two or more divisions. The number of a corps was traditionally indicated in Roman numerals. XXI Indian Corps formed part of the British Tenth Army, which had been formed in Iraq in 1942 under Middle East Command.
