- Two medals awarded to John Smith of Sheffield in 1889; the Albert Medal for Lifesaving and the Life Saving Medal ofthe Order of St John of Jersulem. The medals are framed and mounted together with a description of the lifesaving action and a diagram of the casting pit in which it took place. The "Albert Medal, Second Class" is in bronze with red enamel and a red and white striped ribbon. Note: the original label in the frame and the Museum Accession Register incorrectly list the medal as an Albert Medal in Gold. The Life Saving Medal of the Order of St John is of the 2nd type, issued from 1888, with a plain watered black ribbon.
