Brief description:
Bone china plate decorated with an illustration of Cyfarthfa Castle Museum by Dewi Bowen. Inscription on reverse in both English and Welsh. Colour illustration covers whole face of plate and is surrounded with a rim of gold leaf. Reverse inscription is in black and green and has a Cynhyrchwyd gan manufaction stamp. Reverse inscription: Cynlluniwyd y pl̢t hwn gan Dewi Bowen, Cefn Coed-Y-Cymer Plate designed by Dewi Bowen Cefn Coed-Y-Cymer Castell Cyfarthfa Merthyr Tudful Adeiladwyd castell Cyfarthfa yn 1825 i William Crawshay yr ail - i edrych dros ei weithiau haearn. Y pensaer am y cartref gwych hwn oedd Richard Lugar, a oedd yn enwog am gynllunio cestyll o arddull gothig. Bu'r teulu Crawshay, oedd biau ac a reolodd weithiau haearn Cyfarthfa yn bwy yn y castell am chwe deg pedwar blwyddyn. Cyfarthfa Castle Merthyr Tydfil. Cyfarthfa castle was built in 1825 for William Crawshay II - to overlook his Cyfarthfa iron works. The architect for this impressive iron masters home was Richard Lugar, well known for designing gothic styled castles. The Crawshay family who owned and ran the Cyfarthfa iron works lived at the castle for sixty four years.
