- Object name(s):
- slide; Lantern Slide: On the way to Clifton Suspension Bridge; Magic Lantern Slide: On the way to Clifton Suspension Bridge
- Brief description:
- This image by William Weaver Baker shows Clifton Suspension Bridge in Bristol. The construction of the bridge took thirty-three years. It is famously the work of Isambard Kingdom Brunel, and is still a distinctive landmark. The angle from which Weaver Baker took this photograph on the way to the suspension bridge almost hides the supporting structure, mainly showing the suspended platform. Weaver Baker mainly took photographs of buildings and objects in Exeter, but does appear to have travelled further afield to see places of special architectural interest. This object is not on display. Inscription edges handwritten handwritten 'CLIFTON BRIDGE' on top edge front (under cover glass) handwritten handwritten 'On the way to Clifton Suspension Bridge' on mount
