Kenneth died in 1943 after his plane was shot down in Denmark. Envelope addressed 'F. X. ERNE, ESQ.' Text on letter reads 'The Queen and I offer you our heartfelt sympathy in your great sorrow. We pray that your country's gratitude for a life so nobly given in its servitude may bring you some measure of consolation'. Signed 'George R. I.'
