Brief description:
Shoulder title, 71st Punjabis, 1917-1919. Brass badge with unit number surmounting the curved unit title, ‘Punjabis’. The 71st Punjabis was raised in 1917 at Montgomery, Sahiwal, in the Punjab. Unique in the Indian Army, recruits were drawn from the Punjab’s Christian population. The unit served in Persia in 1918. The regiment was absorbed into the 111th Mahar Regiment in 1919.
