- Keith Spalding (1913-2002) was a German scholar and lexicographer. He was an exile from Nazi Germany who settled in Wales in 1946 and spent his academic life there. His papers constitute one of the exile archives at the University of London's Institute of Modern Languages Research; the painting is part of the Spalding archive. Signed top left: Ph.
