- Telegram number 1031 addressed to Mr F. X. Erne Tweed Cottage, Boldre. Mr Erne was father of Kenneth Erne, RAF pilot. Enclosed in the envelope are two pieces of paper, written in pencil: 'Deeply regret to inform you that your son Sgt. Kenneth Erne failed to return from air operations night of 28/29 April 43. Letter follows any further information recieved will be immediately communicated to you. OC. 218 Squadron.' Envelope opened, telegram folded but in otherwise good condition.
