- Ceramicist. Dixon studied Fine Art at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne (1976-80) and Ceramics at the Royal College of Art (1983-86). He has written and lectured widely, and his work appears in many public collections. He is now Professorial Research Fellow in Contemporary Crafts at Manchester School of Art. In 2000 he received an Arts Council ‘Year of the Artist’ award for a collaborative project with Amnesty International and Kosovar refugees and his politically engaged ceramic practice was the subject of a major solo exhibition, ‘The Sleep of Reason’, at Manchester Art Gallery in 2005.
