The outstanding British exponent of civil court procedure during the 20th century, Jacob (1908-2000) established and developed civil procedure as a subject of university study and helped bridge the gap between the academic and professional worlds. He was Director of the Institute of Advanced Legal Studies, 1986-1988. Portrait signed indistinctly and dated '88. Framed. Artist attribution by James Flower, Bonhams.
