- Object name(s):
- Football Boots
- Brief description:
- Manufactured by ‘Winit’ Sports Footwear, these football boots are made almost entirely from leather, including the studs on the soles! These size 4 examples were discovered in a dusty cupboard at Heathfield Primary School, just prior to its relocation to a new site. An early example of this type of sports footwear, they probably date from between the First and Second World Wars. Since the first international matches – between England and Scotland in the 1870s – football has become the most popular global sport with an estimated audience of 1.5 billion watching the 2022 World Cup Final between France and Argentina.
