No 2 Dress jacket, Brigadier Gael Kathleen Ramsey, Women’s Royal Army Corps, Army Staff, 1990 (c) The Women’s Royal Army Corps (WRAC) was formed in 1949 as a successor to the ATS, and it eventually included all women serving in the Army except medical and veterinary orderlies, chaplains and nurses. It was disbanded in 1992 when men’s and women’s service was merged.
