- Pair of officer’s mess dress shoes, The Princess Royal, Women's Royal Army Corps, worn by Princess Mary, 1963 (c). White and gold brocade over leather. Princess Mary, who had been Controller Commandant of the Auxiliary Territorial Service (ATS) during the Second World War, was appointed Controller Commandant of the Women's Royal Army Corps (WRAC) on its formation in 1949. She held the honorary rank of Major-General until her death in 1965.
