Brief description:
General Service Medal 1918-62, with clasp: Canal Zone awarded to Ralph Lillford, Royal Army Educational Corps, for his service at 57 Army Education Centre, Middle East Land Forces 15, 1952-54. Ralph Lillford enlisted into The Duke of Wellington’s Regiment at Halifax. Following an IQ test he was transferred to the Intelligence Corps and directed to the War Office to learn Russian. He declined and returned to his unit and was sent to Imphal Barracks, York. He was then sent to Wilton Hall, Beaconsfield and passed out as a sergeant of the Royal Army Educational Corps. He was posted to 121 Royal Army Service Corps Supply Platoon and 148 Field Bakery in the Suez Canal Zone.
