Apron (undress) for a Grand Superintendent of Works, circa 1830-1850s.

Brief description:
Rectangular apron with a triangular flap, in white leather with a border of ribbed silk, in dark blue. Suspended from the flap are two ribbons in the same silk, each ended with a bar of gold purl and spangles and finished with gold bullion tassels. There are three levels in applied dark blue silk, one on the flap and two on the apron. At the centre of the apron is the device of a Grand Superintendent of Works embroidered in blue silks, being a protractor within a wreath of wheat and acacia. The apron is lined in dark blue silk with a similar tie belt.
