Brief description:
Top bar: Silver gilt scroll of foliage with central flower, surmounted by a dark blue enamelled scroll, with ' JUBILEE 1917 ' in gilt letters. Ribbon: Light blue ribbed and watered silk, now faded to green. Hanging device: Columns of Jachin and Boaz supporting the celestial and terrestrial globes in silver gilt, on a black and white enamel pavement. Surrounding them are five blue enamelled scrolls, interspersed with silver gilt foliage, reading ' ASHTON / LODGE/ No. 1140 / 1867 / 1917 '. Mounted across the columns is an enamelled shield with the arms of the ancient Earls of Chester impaling those of the Egertons of Tatton - azure ground with three garbs (two and one) in gold, impaling, lion rampant in red on white ground with three pheons (two and one) in black. The device is linked to the ribbon by means of a silver gilt set square and compasses. Pin: Vertical.

Ashton Lodge, No. 1140 is thought to be named after the ' Ashton lands ' - land between Knutsford and Manchester owned by the Egertons of Tatton family, whose arms are incorporated in the lodge badge.
