Brief description:
Trade badge for an ambulance driver, French Army, 1914-1918. This badge was worn by Olive Tremagne Miles whilst serving in Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service (QAIMNS), 1914-1918. The QAIMNS (Queen Alexandra’s Imperial Military Nursing Service) were founded in 1902, replacing the Army Nursing Service. By the end of World War One (1914-1918) about 10,000 nurses had been deployed alongside the British Expeditionary Force, serving in all British Army campaigns.
