Philosopher of jurisprudence Jeremy Bentham (1748-1832) was associated indirectly with the foundation of University College London in 1826. Although he died before the University of London was founded in 1836, his belief that university education should be available for others apart from wealthy members of the Church of England remained important for the new University. Signed bust. On marble plinth.
