text for display label, 'Peter Cumming trained at Hammersmith College of Art and the Royal Academy Schools. He moved to Droset in 1960 to teach at the Bournemouth & Poole College of Art, and after retiring moved with his family to Iwerne Minster in north Dorset. This painting shows the area around the junction of Poole Quay and West Street, where the Barber's Wharf deelopment now stands. St James's Church and the former Poole Foundry appears in the background.
