Brief description:
A small tea spoon sized sterling silver spade that replicates the spade used by Mrs W. H. Lever to cut the first sod at Port Sunlight in March 1888. The spoon was presented by Lever Brothers in July 1938 to guests who attended a series of Luncheons arranged for representatives of the grocery and allied trades in Port Sunlight. More than 1,200 were made and the blade is inscribed 'Port Sunlight 1888 - 1938'.
