- Object name(s):
- ring brooch; brooch
- Brief description:
- Brooch, 11 Early Saxon 6th century AD copper alloy ring brooches, 1 with swastika decoration in its centre and circle pattern stamps on its metal areas, while another is a plain ring with a pierced hole and rows of ring stamps around both edges of 1 side, found during the excavations on the Anglo-Saxon cemetery, Hunstanton between 1900 and 1902. Examination of the swastika brooch has shown lightly-incised scratches that appear to be imitating runes; the inscription cannot be said to be truly runic although some letter-forms are similar.
