Long land pattern musket or ‘Brown Bess’, 46 inch barrel, 1727 pattern. This was the first standardised musket produced for the British Army. It remained in use, with slight changes, until 1797. It had an effective range of around 80 metres but was unreliable in wet or windy conditions.
