Brief description:
Invitation to the opening of the Benn Memorial Hall by the Queen Mother, Elizabeth Bowes Lyon. It reads: 'The Mayor, Aldermen and Councillors of the Borough of Rugby request the company of Councillor Mrs. P.M. Hill and Mr. J.A. Hill on wednesday 5th July, 1961, at 12.10pm at the formal opening of the new Town Hall and Benn Memorial Hall by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother. Cocktails 12.45pm, Luncheon 1.20pm. Lounge suits. R.S.V.P by 10th June.' At the top of the invitation is a gold embossed crest of Rugby and the words 'Foreat Rugbia' meaning 'May Rugby Flourish'.
