Apron (undress) for a Grand Inner Guard, circa 1850s.

Brief description:
Rectangular apron with triangular flap, in white leather with a border of ribbed silk, in dark blue. Suspended from the flap are two ribbons in the same silk, each ended with a bar of gold purl and pearl purl and finished with gold bullion tassels. There are three levels in applied dark blue satin, one on the flap and two on the apron. At the centre of the apron is a device of a Grand Inner Guard embroidered in the blue silks, being crossed swords within a wreath of wheat and acacia. The apron is lined in blue silk and has a similar belt with gilt metal buckle.
