Panus stipticus above and Stereum hirsutum below - pencil and watercolour - undated [1880-1900] - There is a similar painting of Stereum hirsutum, presumably sent to Charlie McIntosh, in Perth Museum; dated 1893. Potter used spawn of the hairy bracket fungus, Stereum hirsutum, in experiments on the germination of fungi. Microscopic drawings of the resulting mycelium are in the Armitt Museum.
