- The palaeographer Prof. Francis Wormald, CBE (1904-1972) was the Professor of Palaeography at King's College London, 1950-1968, and Director of the University of London's Institute of Historical Research, 1960-1968. He also taught at the Warburg Institute, and wrote prolifically. Together with the University Librarian, J.H.P. Pafford, he established the palaeography room at Senate House Library. His papers are held at Senate House Library (MS809), as are some manuscripts he had owned. Signed at foot, to left of centre.
