- Brief description:
- An illustrated map of Hackney's cafes. Caption from the exhibition 'Mapping the Change' (2012): 'Bang up to date with Hackney chic Mouse & de Lotz, the Hackney Pearl, Tin Café, Reilly Rocket, Violet and Beyond Retro are the names of some of Hackney’s cool new cafes springing up all over the borough. Eel pie and mash is still to be had at Cooke’s in Broadway Market. Egg and chips can still be found in Hackney’s cafes but nowadays you are just as likely to find bacon baps with avocado, chicken and roast veg with alioli and mixed leaves, lamb and Hoxton stout stew and toast with goat curd and honey. Change is in the air bringing with it the smell of fresh coffee and a new café culture on the streets of Hackney.'
