- Top bar: Silver gilt bar, coated with blue enamel and with ' JUBILEE ' in gilt letters, surrounded by foliage. Ribbon: Light blue ribbed and watered silk, now faded to green. Hanging device: Silver gilt set square and compasses, with foliage either side of the pivot. Mounted on this is a blue enamelled ring, marked ' UPTON LODGE ' in gilt, with the lower half of a shield in light blue, marked ' No. 1227 ', at its base. Mounted upon this is an enamelled shield, within a wreath of acacia leaves, which depicts the arms of Essex - three gold seaxes on a red ground - impaling a ship at sea. Pin: Vertical
