Top bar: Silver gilt rectangle, marked ' 1579 ' in white enamel. Ribbon: Light blue ribbed silk. There is a gilt plaque on reverse of ribbon bearing an inscription. First hanging device: Silver gilt coronet - taken from the arms of the Dukes of Abercorn - with five stars or flowers. Second hanging device: Silver gilt entwined monogram of ' ST. JAMES '. Third hanging device: Silver gilt set square from which is suspended the 47th proposition of Euclid. There is an inscription on the reverse. Pin: Vertical.
