Italian flag captured by the King's African Rifles, at Gondar, Ethiopia, 1941. The King’s African Rifles played a leading role during the Abyssinian (now Ethiopia) campaign and helped defeat the Italians’ last stand at Gondar in November 1941. The rank and file of the regiment were African, while most officers were seconded from British Army regiments.
