Title:
Denison smock, 1942 pattern, Army Air Corps.
Object name(s):
smock, Denison
Brief description:
Denison smock, 1942 pattern, Army Air Corps. Named after its designer, Major Mervyn Denison, the Denison smock was first introduced for use by airborne forces in 1941. It was designed to be worn over a soldier’s battle dress and under his jump smock. This example has the badge of an Army Air Corps pilot above the left breast pocket. The use of the lion and crown emblem between the two wings distinguishes Army Air Corps pilots from those serving with the Royal Air Force.
