Brief description:
This attractive little bird spends the winter in the UK. Numbers vary between 45,000 and 1,800,000 depending on food supplies. It is often seen in large flocks, sometimes with chaffinches. Their summer breeding grounds range from Norway to Russia and the Bering Sea. Unlike its relative, the chaffinch, brambling mainly migrate at night. This specimen was donated by Mr Pershouse in 1921. This object is not on display.
