Royal Army Medical Corps cap badge. The Royal Army Medical Corps was established as the Medical Staff Corps in 1884 and in 1898 was renamed the Royal Army Medical Corps. The Corps was granted it’s motto and badge by Queen Victoria in 1902. The design was drawn from Greek mythology and features the staff of Asclepius. Asclepius was a Greek god associated with medicine and healing. It has since been adopted worldwide as the symbol of the medical profession.
