This silver cup was awarded to Albert Harris as first prize for his entry in a literary competition run by the periodical 'Masonic Record', “Freemasonry as a Guide to Man”, an essay which focuses on the friendship that freemasonry promotes. A second prize of books was awarded to Lawrence A. Phoenix for “Seeking Light and Knowledge”, a third prize to Frank Cecil Hansford Dennett for “Address to an Initiate”, and an Award of Merit to William Johns for “The Allotted Task
