Title:
Vines at Báia
Object name(s):
Picture; Dutch
Brief description:
This sketch was painted at the fishing town of Báia, on the Mediterranean coast five kilometres north of Naples. Famous for its thermal springs, the area was often visited by tourists and artists attracted by the impressive complex of Roman buildings. Pitloo here focuses on the vines growing in what appears to be an orchard, rather than on the antique ruins.
