- Mess jacket, officer’s, Army Staff, Field Marshal, used by Alfonso XIII, King of Spain as colonel-in-chief of the 16th Lancers and 16th/5th Lancers, 1905-1941. Alfonso XIII was colonel-in-chief of the 16th Lancers and 16th/5th Lancers from April 1905 until his death on 28th Feburary 1941. He was promoted Field Marshal in 1928. Traditionally on band nights in the Officers’ Mess of the 16th Lancers the Spanish Royal Anthem would be played before the British National Anthem.
