BOOKBINDING for The Germ. Thoughts Towards Nature in Poetry, Literature and Art About 1898 Bookbinding was popular with Arts and Crafts designers, especially with women designers. The Guild of Women Binders was set up in 1898 by the London bookseller Frank Karslake who wanted to train and employ women binders at his Hampstead bindery.
