Sent from Montalvao on the Spanish-Portuguese border, the letter describes a march to join Spanish troops at Badajoz, the later retreat, the prospect of further operations, and camp conditions. One of five letters written by Surgeon George Morse of the Army Medical Service during the Napoleonic Wars (1803-1815).
