East India Company Mameluke-hilted presentation sword, 1807 (c). This handsome sword was one of many awarded by the East India Company to British Army and Royal Navy officers after distinguished actions in the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars (1793-1815). The Mameluke hilt and curved blade was a favourite style for presentation swords.
