Brief description:
United States Army issue scarf, knitted wool, 1950 (c). This scarf was issued to Lieutenant (later Colonel) Leslie Sharpe of 1st Battalion, The Middlesex Regiment, during the winter of 1950-1951. In order to show willingness to assist the American forces, 27th Commonwealth Infantry Brigade was rushed from Hong Kong to Korea in September 1950 without proper winter clothing. As a result, they were reliant on American issue clothing.
