Brief description:
Pattern 1882 infantry braces, 1882 (c). This was part of an infantryman’s load carrying equipment. It was made of white leather and could be attached with straps to a belt or valise (canvas bag). From 1870, the British Army adopted load carrying equipment known as valise equipment. It distributed weight around the torso and could be adapted to different conditions.
