Brief description:
Top bar: Gold plated silver bar in the shape of an architectural pediment with a pierced geometric design on top, a pierced foliage motif at each end and a fleur-de-lis in the centre. From the bar is draped a gold plated silver banner infilled with dark red enamel with text reading 'FOUNDER'. Ribbon: Ribbed and watered silk in light blue. Ribbon device: Set square and compass in gold plated silver with engraved foliage design. Hanging device: Four gold plated silver shields placed at angles with their points touching. The top left shield shows the civic coat of arms of Northampton showing a white enamel tower supported by a gold lion on each side on a red and green enamel background. The top right shield shows the civic coat of arms of Huntingdon painted in colour enamel being a hunting scene consisting of a man and dog hunting a stag with a tree in the background. The bottom right shield is the civic coat of arms of Cambridge being a gold bridge over the River Cam on a red enamel background. Above the bridge is a gold fleur-de-lis between two white heraldic roses and on the river are three black enamel sailing boats. The bottom left shield contains the civic coat of arms of Lincoln being a red enamel cross on a white enamel background. At the centre of the cross is a gold fleur-de-lis. Hanging device (cont.): Above the four shields is placed a fifth shield being the civic coat of arms of Peterborough. It is divided into vertical halves, the left half containing crossed keys on a red enamel background and the right half containing crossed swords on a dark blue enamel background. Arching over the shields is a gold plated silver banner with scrolling ends infilled with dark blue enamel and with text reading 'PETERBOROUGH & / COUNTIES / LODGE'. Below the shields is a stylised foliage design in gold plated silver upon which is placed a white enamel bar with text reading 'No. 2996'. Pin: Vertical.
