- Leaflets issued by the Indian National Army and AZAD Hindostan League
- Object name(s):
- leaflet
- Brief description:
- Leaflets issued by the Indian National Army and AZAD Hindostan League.
The Indian National Army (INA) was formed by Indian nationalists in August 1942. It aimed to secure Indian independence with Japanese assistance and was composed of Indian prisoners of war captured in the Malayan campaign and at Singapore. INA soldiers fought the Allies in Burma, but following World War Two (1939-1945) many were repatriated to India where some faced trial for treason. The Indian opposition to the trials galvanised the independence movement.
