The Brixia Model 35 was a light mortar used by the Italian Army during World War Two (1939-1945). The bomb exploded on impact, showering the target with steel fragments. It had a high rate of fire, but its fragmentation was limited, reducing its effectiveness.

The poster is a spoof film advert, ‘Users are Losers’, ‘Starring b. A. Loser & A. No-Hoper’.
Today soldiers undergo compulsory drug testing, despite the use of illegal drugs being less common amongst soldiers than civilians. Any soldier found using illegal drugs is dishonourably discharged from the Army.

The Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) was formed in 1917 to free up valuable and experienced soldiers from the rear areas for front line service. The women of the WAAC replaced them, undertaking a variety of roles that were crucial to the war effort.

The Royal Army Medical Corps was established as the Medical Staff Corps in 1884 and in 1898 was renamed the Royal Army Medical Corps. The Corps was granted it’s motto and badge by Queen Victoria in 1902. The design was drawn from Greek mythology and features the staff of Asclepius. Asclepius was a Greek god associated with medicine and healing. It has since been adopted worldwide as the symbol of the medical profession.
