The 32nd Field Ambulance, Royal Army Medical Corps served with the 10th (Irish) Division. They served in Salonika, from October 1916, taking part in the action at Kosturino (December 1916). In September 1917 the unit moved to Egypt to prepare for the Palestine Campaign.

This knife was used in Shanshuipo Prisoner of War Camp, Hong Kong, by the camp barber, D J Cook of the Middlesex Regiment (Duke of Cambridge's Own). During Japanese searches the knife was hidden in the boot of the owner.
