The badge of this unit depicts a stove surrounded by a garter containing the corps title and surmounted by the Imperial Crown. The motto ‘We sustain’ is inscribed on a wreath below. Prior to 1971 the Army Catering Corps motto had been ‘Escam in Tempore’ (food in time).

- Blancoed officer's anklets, pattern 1937, used by Captain David A Walmsley, Royal Army Medical Corps, 1955-1959.
Made of webbing and leather by S.O.C.
Although puttees (webbing tape) were worn by some regiments most National Servicemen, both officers and other ranks, would have worn anklets (also known as gaiters) with their battledress. The strap buckles were always on the outside of the leg.

It reads: ‘Dear Madam, I have to convey to you the thanks of the Director-General of National Service for your offer to place yourself at the disposal of the War Office as a National Service Volunteer for the Auxiliary Army Service in France. In order that fuller information may be available as to your qualifications for clerical work, I have to ask you to be so good as to attend for interview at the time and place given on the enclosed form of summons, which you should bring with you to the interview’.
