- Comments:
- In June 1940, German forces invaded the British Channel Islands and a few months later in January 1941 the Masonic Temple of Jersey was looted of its masonic wears and personal regalia of its members. After the island was liberated in May 1945 a meeting of Provincial Grand Lodge was scheduled for 16th August, but only a few brethren who had hidden their masonic belongings could produce an apron to wear. To overcome this problem, old sheets and second hand linen were collected, cut up and painted with the various ranks.
