- fossil: mammal; CERVIDAE: Megaloceros giganteus: giant elk; giant elk
- Brief description:
- An unidentified bone belonging to an Irish elk (giant deer) collected from Kents Cavern. Surprisingly, the Irish elk is neither exclusively Irish as bones have been found as far afield as Africa and Siberia, nor closely related to either modern day elk species. This creature, unlike many other ice age megafauna, survived well into the Holocene epoch for reasons not fully understood. This epoch was an interglacial when climate was changing and humans were dominating.

- Object name(s):
- fossil: mammal; EQUIDAE: Equus caballus: horse; horse
- Brief description:
- A probable third phalange or coffin bone of a horse collected at Kents Cavern and donated to RAMM by the British Association for Advancement of Science committee. This bone comes from a creature that lived a wild life, as it dates to over 6000 years before the earliest evidence of domestication of horses. Wild horses were among the favourite prey of the cave hyenas; this complete fossil is a good find as hyenas are capable of crushing bone.

- Object name(s):
- fossil: mammal; EQUIDAE: Equus caballus: horse; horse tooth
- Brief description:
- Donated by the British Association for Advancement of Science committee. Horses moved into southern Britain during the last interglacial, known as the Ipswichian, before the present interglacial we are living through spanning the entire Holocene epoch. They might have looked similar to Exmoor ponies in size. The presence of horse teeth and bones in Devon caves is probably the result of scavenging and hunting by hyenas. This one was found at Kents Cavern. Pengelly number 5406.

- fossil: mammal; HYAENIDAE: Crocuta crocuta spelaea: cave hyena; cave hyena
- Brief description:
- A fragment of a cave hyena jaw with in-situ teeth found in an area of Kents Cavern. The presence of teeth in this fossil allow reliable diet analyses to be conducted to help find out what this hyena was preying on. Bones of other animals from the caves also show tooth marks made by the hyenas gnawing them. The hyena was probably using the cave as a den in which to live.

- Object name(s):
- Equus; sp.; Hipparion ?; sp.
- Brief description:
- A plaster cast of the bones of a pes of a three - toed horse, like Hipparion. The plaster cast is of an articulated assemblage but this time only from the very broad navicular and lateral cuneiform down to the most distal phalanx of the third metatarsal (there is no calcaneum or astragalus like in FS11997). There is the same red - painted matrix and black patches painted on the bones. The red painted matrix again suggests it is a cast of a specimen from a classic site like Kent's Cavern, Torquay. The third metatarsal has 'No.1' written on it in ink.
