- Brief description:
- Pair of shoulder titles, Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps, 1918 (c).
Two rectangular badges with the unit abbreviation, 'Q.M.A.A.C’, in buff embroidery upon khaki cloth.
The Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps was formed as the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps (WAAC) in 1917 to free up men to go and fight in World War One (1914-1918). It was the first time women had served in the British Army other than as nurses.
Impressed with the WAAC's work, Queen Mary became its patron in 1918. The corps was renamed Queen Mary’s Army Auxiliary Corps (QMAAC) to reflect its fine conduct during the German Spring Offensive of that year.
By the end of World War One, 50,000 women had volunteered. The corps was eventually disbanded in 1921.

- Brief description:
- Button, 96th Berar Infantry, 1903-1922.
Medium-sized, bronze button with the regimental number, ‘96’.
The 96th Berar Infantry was formed in 1903 following reform of the Indian Army. The origin of the unit dates back to 1797 and the formation of the 2nd Battalion, Aurangabad Division; part of the forces of the princely state of Hyderabad. In 1852 the unit became the 3rd Regiment of Infantry, part of the Nizam of Hyderabad’s Army. Incorporation into the British Indian Army as the 3rd Infantry, Hyderabad Contingent followed in 1854.
The regiment expanded during World War One (1914-1918), serving in India and Mesopotamia. Further reform of the Indian Army in 1922 resulted in the unit becoming the 2nd Battalion, 19th Hyderabad Regiment. This unit became part of the Indian Army after Partition in 1947.
