- Logan (1910-1987) was clerk of the Court of the University of London, 1944-1948, then Principal of the University, 1948-1975. He saw to the acquisition or construction of seven university halls of residence and the purchase of an extensive site in Bloomsbury on which to build other new university buildings. He chaired the Association of Commonwealth Universities, 1962-3, virtually authored the Universities Superannuation Scheme, took a leading part in providing social and athletic facilities for students on a university basis, and safeguarded the efficiency of the London hospital medical schools. - Chancellor of the University of London since 1981. Portrait signed lower left. In moulded gilt gesso frame. Chen Yan Ning moved from China to USA in 1986 and is now an American citizen. His sitters include the Nobel Peace prize winner, Aung San Suu Kyi, Her Majesty the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh, Richard Branson, and all the Body Shop family. His portrait of the Queen was subsequently used by Royal Mail for the Jubilee Year stamp.
